Catching Up With Old Friends

Day #107
Tripometer: 1247.9 miles

I have been really lucky the past week or so. The weather in the northwest has been remarkable and today was no exception. The first thing I did today was go to the Experience Music Project (EMP) which is an incredible museum that deals with the history of music as well as how music is produced. One exhibit looked at the evolution of the guitar, another exhibit that looked at pop music, one that looked at the importance of Seattle in the music industry, an exhibit on Jimi hendrix and a new exhibit on Bob Dylan. Then there was a part of the museum that took you through the steps of writing and producing a song. Each step of the process was narrated by various music stars. Then of course there was a room where you could play a number of instruments and sing and basically make your own song. I really want to learn how to play the drums. If you're ever in Seattle this is a must see.

After the museum I went and checked out the view of the city from the top of the Space Needle. Wow...it's really high up there. Luckily it was a very clear day and you could see forever.

I then walked around downtown window shopping and getting a feel for the city and the people before meeting up with Ian Grunfeld. We went out for a drink and did a quick walk through Pike Place Market. On the way to my car Ian pointed out a very important landmark...the first ever Starbucks. We then went to Ian's house where I remet his fiance Marita and went out to dinner with some of their friends.
