The Great Smoky Mountains
Day #17
Tripometer: 1792.9 miles
I spent the day in the mountains today. It was very cold, which probably means it wasn't the best day to be high up but oh well. My first stop was at Grandfather Mountain. It is the highest peak in North Carolina. At the top of the mountain there is a bridge (see below). On a windy day, which it definitely was today, the bridge kind of sways. It was a little scary but the people there told me it was completely safe so I believed them and crossed it.

My next stop was at Chimney Rock. Unfortunately a lot of the trails were closed. Some were too icy and some were dangerous because huge pieces of ice were falling. I was still able to get some exercise which was great. The views were amazing. At one point I just sat on a rock. My butt got cold very quickly but the view made it totally worth it.
