Must See #5

Day #70
Tripometer: 8655.8
Mile #8500: Chaco Culture National Historic Park Visitor's Center

Wow! What an amazing place. Chaco is full of Native American ruins, some of which have been excavated. Mom and I did a couple of hikes on our own and then went on a tour of the largest site. Our tour guide was really incredible. He did a fantastic job explaining what he knew about the site but also explained how little is actually known. The architecture and determination of the various tribes that used Chaco was amazing to me. The knowledge they had of the earth, math and physics is far greater than I ever thought. One of the things I liked most about Chaco were the petroglyphs. A lot of the images were extremelly clear and very telling. If you're ever in the southwest this is definitely a place to see.
